And now for something completely different …

Baseball biographies

Along with my music mysteries, I enjoy writing biographies of retired baseball players. I’m a member of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR), and these biographies are part of the SABR Biography Project.

Two of my biographies were recently published. The first is about left-handed pitcher Darren Oliver, who had an impressive twenty-year career in the major leagues. The second biography is about right-handed pitcher Ann Cindric, who played baseball in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. I’ve also contributed to SABR’s “Convention Games” project, which will be published online in 2023.

If you enjoy stories about baseball, check the SABR Research Collection, which includes more than 6,000 biographies, articles on memorable baseball games, and SABR interviews with baseball figures past and present.

And don’t forget, it’s

until the All-Star Break!

Kirkus Reviews on Final Adagio:

“Cleverly constructed murder mystery.”

“Finale with the aplomb of Poirot at a pace more presto than adagio.”

“A well-played mystery for music lovers. Bravo!”

Tonight’s performance of Mahler’s epic Ninth Symphony marks the long-awaited conducting debut of Maestro Auguste Leloir with the Chicago Philharmonic. But during the fading chords of the last movement, a murderer’s obsession with revenge takes the center stage. Can Maestro Leloir unravel the mystery of the Final Adagio before he falls victim to the fierce vengeance of death?

Final Adagio was the Grand Prize Winner in the San Francisco Writers Conference Contest and is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

The Paganini Curse book launch and contest news

Hello,

February continues to bring good news.

First of all, I’ve received many congratulations on the publishing of The Paganini Curse. Book sales are growing steadily, and I’m planning a series of events to get the word out about the book to a wider audience. As a reminder, The Paganini Curse is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble in print and ebook. I appreciate your feedback and good wishes.

And I’m excited to announce that my Maestro Leloir mystery, Final Adagio, won the Grand Prize in the San Francisco Writers Conference Contest. This is a great honor for me, and great timing as Final Adagio is in the formatting stage for publishing as an ebook in March. Also, there’s literary agent interest, and I’ll keep you posted if there are any further developments.
